Tell us a little bit about yourself and your life. Not necessarily music-related!

I am from Malaysia and I live in a town called Petaling Jaya, where I grew up, and it is 20 minutes from the capital Kuala Lumpur. I enjoy eating, and when I have the time, I cook dishes from my hometown among them would be Chicken Curry and Ginger Chicken in Soy Sauce.

How did you first get into music?

My parents bought me a violin and enrolled me into music school when I was 5 years old. Since then I continued to learn and explore the music world.

What made you decide that music would be an important part of your life?

I decided that music would be an important part of my life when I realised that I enjoyed studying it more than studying for academic subjects in school (although I do enjoy them, just a little less than music!)

What has been your musical highlight so far?

My musical highlight was having the opportunity to perform the Bernstein Mass this year with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. It was a fun experience and I learned a lot having to work alongside great and professional musicians from the orchestra.

Who are your favourite composers/artists/musicians?

Among my favourite classical composers would be Brahms, Bruch and Chopin, and I really admire Julia Fischer and Wynton Marsalis but for contemporary artist my current favourite is Florence + the Machine.

What do you anticipate for the Nevis Ensemble?

I anticipate the excitement to perform at various venues and especially trekking up and performing on Ben Nevis!
