Tell us a little bit about yourself and your life. Not necessarily music-related!
I am 22 years old and I am currently a full-time student studying Mathematics at the University of Strathclyde. I’m living with my parents, and take any gig that comes my way; I guess you could call me a full-time musician too! That being said, I love what I do and wouldn’t change it for the world!
How did you first get into music?
My dad has always been very passionate about music and through gradual exposure to his eclectic taste, I followed suit. I picked up guitar at age ten, drum kit two years later and the rest is history.
What made you decide that music would be an important part of your life?
There was no discernable moment where I decided that music would be an important part of my life. Music has always surrounded me and I have gladly stayed surrounded.
What has been your musical highlight so far?
Though they all remain unreleased, I am very proud of the songs that I have written. Finishing my first was a substantial musical highlight for me.
Who are your favourite composers/artists/musicians?
With my teens being occupied by an exploration of metal and the years following predominantly spent listening to hip hop, I find a very satisfying medium in artists such as Death Grips, Kendrick Lamar and JPEGMAFIA. With regards to my favourite players, I am currently very inspired by Chris “Daddy” Dave, Gerwin Eisenhauer and Dan Mayo and have always admired Matt Garstka and Thomas Pridgen.
What do you anticipate for the Nevis Ensemble?
I anticipate the ability to express myself through mind and music in the most enjoyable way possible. More specifically, I’m very excited to play a considerable amount of venues in such a short amount of time. I think this upcoming tour will be an extremely unique experience unlike any other musical adventure that I have embarked upon.
