In 2019, Nevis Ensemble ran its first Green Nevis campaign, partnering with organisations such as Scottish Water, Save Some Green, and Less Waste Laura to raise awareness among our musicians, partners and audiences about some of the things we as an orchestra were doing to reduce our waste and be a Sustainable Orchestra.
You can read a bit about the campaign on Less Waste Laura’s blog here.
Touring with #GreenNevis across the Hebrides, saw us being awarded the Environmental Sustainability Award at the Scottish New Music Awards in 2020, and shortlisted for the 2020 Julie’s Bicycle Best Campaign award.
In 2021, we are embarking on a 100 Days of Green Nevis, with our musicians, staff and trustees taking part in creative and practical tasks to raise awareness and improve their own sustainable living. This page will keep you updated as to how everyone is getting on.
We would love you to join in too! Feel free to join in with some of the ideas our musicians put forward, or come up with your own! Scroll down to the bottom to see how you can take part, and if you would like to know more, do get in touch at email@example.com
100 days from 1 February to 11 May 2021.
You! Your friends, family, flatmates, a local organisation… Everyone and anyone.
A sustainable or creative green action of your choosing which you can commit to for 100 days. This action can be as practical or as creative and wacky as you like, involving music or not as you choose!
Some ideas to get you started…
- Commit to a less materialistic life by recycling, donating or selling 100 things you don’t need.
- Share an environmental/conservation volunteering opportunity everyday.
- Improvise a short piece music each day inspired by an endangered species and share it with your family or friends.
- Go vegetarian or vegan for 100 days.
- Only buy products that can be recycled.
- Make a Spotify playlist of environmentally/climate change related music by adding a new piece everyday for 100 days
Everyday on our social media channels, Nevis Ensemble will share updates from different participants, with a photo, short paragraph and/or a video highlighting their sustainable action.
You can find us at @nevisensemble on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and if you tag us and use the #100DaysOfGreenNevis hashtag, we can see what you are up to!
