Nevis Ensemble is an orchestra with a mission: music for everyone, everywhere. Since June 2022, we’ve been Orchestra in Residence at Platform at the Bridge in Glasgow’s Easterhouse, and with our 20 Fellows we take hundreds of performances to people and places around Scotland that others cannot reach each year.
Alongside our fast and furious touring programme we run an extensive training and development programme for our musicians, and lead projects with a variety of partners including schools, refugee groups, prisons, homeless centres and support groups.
For summer 2023, we are inviting YOU to join Nevis Ensemble for a tour taking dozens of fun and engaging performances to communities around Scotland. In true Nevis fashion the orchestra will perform a wide range of music in all kinds of venues, including prisons, hospices, supermarkets, children’s clubs, castles, and supermarkets.
Dates are 13-19 July, including rehearsal days in Garelochhead, before heading off on the tour bus. From the moment you join until the final performance and ceilidh, all meals, transport and accommodation are provided. The repertoire includes music by Lili Boulanger, Béla Bartók, William Grant-Still, WA Mozart, Fanny Mendelssohn, and Amy Brandon as well as funky arrangements of Scottish traditional music and new pop and jazz arrangements written specially for the tour.
